Head of School
& Elementary Teacher
Sammie was immediately drawn to Dr. Maria Montessori’s ideas when she first observed a Montessori environment in 2008. She was amazed at the level of concentration and independent work displayed by the children. Sammie quickly came to appreciate the uniqueness of the Montessori Method, and to believe deeply in the difference that it can make in the lives of children. In 2015 her son was born, and the idea for Sprouting Minds Montessori School started shortly after. Her quiet leadership and genuine dedication to students and staff quickly grew Sprouting Minds from a preschool to the private school it is today. As Head of School, Sammie oversees all operations and ensures that each student at the school receives the highest quality education that SMMS can provide.
She has a bachelors of Psychology with a focus in Child Psychology from Alfred University, and a Masters in Childhood and Early Childhood Education from Niagara University. She is a NYS certified elementary teacher, has been trained in conscious discipline and holds a NAMC diploma for Montessori teaching ages 3-6. Sammie is currently completing school in her free time for MACTE accredited Montessori Teacher Certification for the Elementary Level. She has worked with young children, and elementary level students for the past 14 years.
“Establishing lasting peace is the work of education; all politics can do is keep us out of war.” – Dr. Maria Montessori
